Toronto short-term rental rules. In the City of Toronto, short-term rentals (stays under 28 consecutive nights) are permitted only in an operator's principal residence, and the operator must register with the City and renew annually. Entire-home rentals are limited to 180 nights per calendar year; additional rules, fees and a 6% Municipal Accommodation Tax apply. The registered operator remains legally responsible for compliance even when a co-host or management company is engaged. Information on this site is general and not legal, tax or financial advice.
